Parish volunteers visit Danbury Hospital on behalf of St. Edward's church on days when a priest is not available. Visitors bring the "good will" of the parish and
spend a few minutes with parishioners who are hospitalized to let them know
the parish is praying for them and wishing them well.
If a loved one is hospitalized and would like a visit,
please notify the Parish Office at 203-746-2200.
Home Visitations and Hospital Visitations
The Church has a special relationship to those in our community who are sick and suffering. In addition to praying for their well-being, we also visit the sick and minster to their needs with the sacraments. Keeping up with this task is challenging, but we are committed to trying our best to reach out to those in need of home and hospital visits. Fr. Karol oversees this ministry to the sick, and with the help of several lay people in the parish, we are able to provide these services in times of need and illness. Here is some information that you might find helpful for those who need the sacraments at home or the hospital.
*If there is someone in your family who needs a visitor to bring Holy Communion to your home, please contact the office and let us know so we can assign a visitor to care for that need.
*If there is someone in your family who is infirm and needs the Sacrament of Reconciliation or the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at home, please call the office and one of the priests can set up an appointment to visit.
*If you are in Danbury Hospital, the fastest and most efficient way to receive the sacraments is to contact the pastoral care office in the hospital. St. Edward's Parish, in conjunction with other local parishes, pays for a priest whose full time job is to minister to the sacramental needs of those in the hospital. That priest is the pastor of the hospital, and will not only make sure that you or your loved ones receive the sacraments while you are there, but he will also keep a record of those sacraments.
*If you are in a convalescent home or nursing facility as a resident or for rehabilitation, the easiest way to find out about receiving the sacraments is to contact the pastoral care office of the facility. Some nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities have a priest chaplain assigned to them. Other facilities are served by the local parish in whose boundaries the facility is located. Some of our lay visitors already visit convalescent homes to assist with Holy Communion, so they would be ready to bring the Eucharist to others there in need.
*If you are interested in joining either the Home Visitation Ministry or the Hospital Visitation Ministry, please call the office at 203-746-2200. Many thanks to all who serve in this ministry, and we pray that others will also help us to bring comfort to the sick and infirm.
